Visit to the longhouse

Tuesday we took a car ride to get to the long house. It was an awful trip. The roads were super bumpy and ended up spending about six hours in the car. I thought New Orleans roads were bad, but no, these were much worse. Was supposed to take three hours but ended up going a longer way. Not happy.
Beginning of the Lunyong family land.

Dad being shown the palm oil trees that they are going to be farming now instead of coconuts.

The fruits are harvested to make the palm oil.

Burning of the land in Indonesia was to clear land so that these can be planted.

From the road to the pathway to get to the longhouse

The path to dad's old longhouse, which was dismantled so only a few units of longhouse left.

 Across the river

When we were here 15 years ago, my dad threw Tim's pillow out one of these windows because he knocked it into the mosquito candle in his sleep.

Took one of these boats back to Bintulu because it was much shorter.

Tried to take a picture of the island as we rode back but the waves were too rough!
